Conferences and Trainings

AAS hosts three conferences on an annual basis:

  • AAS Annual Conference for researchers, clinicians, survivors, school personnel, volunteers and other mental health professionals
  • Healing After Suicide Conference for those who have lost someone to suicide
  • Collaborative Crisis Center Conference for crisis center staff and volunteers seeking networking, educational and skill-building workshops

AAS also administers trainings for those in suicide prevention, including our flagship Recognizing and Responding to Suicide Risk: Essential Skills for Clinicians program and training for crisis center employees. For more information, see our training section.

Accreditation & Certification

  • Crisis Centers, Organizational -- AAS assists suicide prevention and crisis intervention centers throughout the U.S. and Canada provide quality services by developing standards for the certification of such centers
  • Crisis Centers, Individual -- AAS evaluates individual crisis workers for certification in the clinical practice of crisis management
  • School Suicide Prevention Specialists -- AAS has developed an accreditation program for those working in our nation's schools to provide prevention and intervention services
