Call for Subject Matter Experts and Trainers

American Association of Suicidology – Training Programs

The American Association of Suicidology (AAS) is seeking Subject Matter Experts (SME), as well as Trainers to provide various trainings on topics related to suicide prevention.


AAS is a 501(c)3 non-profit association dedicated to the understanding and prevention of suicide.

AAS offers training programs for organizations and individuals on a variety of topics (e.g. Psychological Autopsy Training (PACT); Recognizing and Responding to Suicide Risk [for Clinicians, Colleges/Universities, Correctional Facility Clinicians, Primary Care Providers, Emergency Department]; Suicide Bereaved Training, Forensic Suicidology; School Suicide Prevention, and College and University Suicide Prevention – to name a few).

Trainings may be delivered in person or virtually. SME is used to develop the trainings, provide a peer review of the training and revise, update existing content.


Looking for SMEs who have experience developing curriculum, as well as a vast and thorough knowledge of suicide prevention, and associated risks and protective factors.

Trainers must have experience delivering curriculum and content related to suicide prevention.

Interested individuals must:

1. Have a demonstrated expertise and knowledge of suicide prevention.

2. Graduate degree in the field of mental health.

3. For SMEs – experience developing and updating curriculum directly related to suicide prevention.

4. For Trainers – experience delivering trainings directly related to suicide prevention.

5. For SMEs – be able to actively contribute and participate in the workgroup meetings and available to update, revise or develop the curriculum beginning in February 2022.

SMEs and Trainers will be paid an hourly rate to deliver the trainings.
