Life’s Worth Living Foundation
Our Story
In February 2014, indescribable tragedy struck our little hometown of Tooele, UT twice in the same week. Two local families and many friends’ lives where forever changed, never to return to the way things where. Tears were shed as hearts ached during the two consecutive funerals for two outstanding young men that had a tremendous impact on those they knew.
Like so many who have been touched by suicide, each of us where left asking ourselves questions like, “why?”, “What could I have done differently?” “What could I have done to save him?”. During the days and weeks that followed and while in conversation with a family member of one these young men, we realized and agreed that something had to be done. A fire of determination was emerging from the heartbreak and pain we where going through. We saw that we where in a position to to prevent this unspeakable sadness from happening to others and that we could ultimately play a small part in the healing of those who have experienced this tragedy without warning. And so it was, out of these ashes, the life’s Worth Living Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization, was born.
The story of these young men, like the many before and after, is where our story begins. We are very proud to say we are making good on our promises to each other that day in 2014. We are making a huge difference in the traditionally high suicide rate that had plagued our native Tooele Valley. Lives are being saved, broken hearts are being mended, prospective and emotional strength is being developed as we pursue our foundation’s mission of suicide awareness and prevention. As a foundation, we provide financial aid to families, educate communities about warning signs and prevention and provide counseling and support to those who need it.
Above all, we understand what we are working so hard to prevent. We’ve each been there in one way or another. But we can’t do it alone. Donations and volunteerism is what makes our mission go. So join us in making the ultimate difference in the life of someone else. You never know who you might touch, bless or save.
Life’s Worth Living Foundation is a registered 501c3 charity in the state of Utah. We aim to raise awareness, educate, and prevent suicide in Tooele County.
