Services
The American Association of Suicidology offers training, certification, and accreditation services that support professionals and organizations working in suicide prevention. Each service is built on research, shaped by field expertise, and created to strengthen both individual skill and organizational practice.
AAS On-Demand
AAS On‑Demand offers self‑paced training that supports professionals at different stages of their careers. Courses include options for supervisors moving into leadership roles, clinicians looking to strengthen suicide‑risk assessment skills, and practitioners who prefer to complete training independently. Each on‑demand course combines structured content with guided activities, giving learners the freedom to work through material at a pace that fits their schedule.
Psychological Autopsy
AAS supports professionals and organizations in understanding the multifaceted factors surrounding suicide through psychological autopsy training and certification. Psychological autopsies contribute valuable insights into the biological, psychological, social, and environmental circumstances present in the lives of individuals who die by suicide. This work informs prevention strategies, strengthens postvention efforts, and advances the field’s understanding of suicide through structured, evidence‑informed inquiry.
Live Training
AAS Live Training brings participants into a real‑time learning environment. These sessions cover advanced topics such as crisis investigation practices, clinical approaches to suicide risk, and considerations for working with specific populations. Live instruction allows participants to work with instructors directly, engage in discussion, and practice skills through case examples and applied exercises. The format creates space for questions, clarification, and shared learning among peers.
Certification
AAS administers professional certifications that verify competency and affirm adherence to best‑practice standards in crisis services and suicide prevention. Certification pathways include structured training, applied learning components, and formal evaluation to ensure participants meet established criteria.
Crisis Center Accreditation
AAS has accredited crisis service organizations for nearly 50 years, recognizing providers that demonstrate excellence in crisis intervention and organizational practice. The accreditation process evaluates multiple domains, including administration, service delivery, and crisis response, to ensure that centers meet robust, evidence‑supported standards.
