Crisis Supervisor Series

A four‑part series designed for crisis professionals transitioning from direct service roles into management and leadership.

Part I. Introduction to Crisis Supervision

This introductory course equips new managers and supervisors with the foundational skills needed as they transition into leadership roles. It covers essential topics such as understanding leadership styles, defining the role of a supervisor, maintaining thorough documentation, managing staff performance, using data to guide quality improvement, and applying basic conflict‑resolution techniques. As the first course in the four‑part series, it establishes the core competencies necessary for effective crisis supervision.

Part II. Individual and Group Supervision

The second course in the series focuses on strengthening supervisory relationships and guiding staff through structured support systems. Participants learn how to conduct effective individual supervision sessions, facilitate group supervision, and navigate performance improvement processes. The course also emphasizes developing sustainable supervisory relationships that promote professional growth and accountability within crisis service teams.

Part III. Real-Time Feedback and Debriefing

In this third course, supervisors build skills for supporting staff in fast‑paced crisis environments through timely coaching and feedback. The training includes techniques for offering constructive, work‑affirming feedback, leading both individual and group debriefings, and responding to critical incidents. It also addresses the supervisor’s role during broader community crises, helping leaders support teams through high‑stress events.

Part IV. Administrative Responsibilities

The final course in the series focuses on the administrative and HR responsibilities that accompany leadership roles in crisis settings. Topics include required documentation practices, hiring and termination procedures, conducting grievance investigations, completing critical incident reviews, and ensuring equity-informed decision-making. Supervisors also learn strategies for managing schedules effectively and sustaining employee engagement across diverse teams. This fourth course completes the supervisory skill set needed for confident, competent leadership.


Recognizing and Responding to Suicide Risk: Essential Skills for Clinicians

Available in English and/or Spanish, this advanced 14-hour training is based on empirical evidence outlining the knowledge, skills, and approaches needed for effective suicide risk assessment and clinical intervention. Participants learn through a multimodal format, including self-paced modules, virtual instruction, and collaborative exercises, to build confidence in applying best-practice clinical strategies.


Recognizing and Responding to Suicide Risk: Colleges and Universities

This 14-hour advanced training adapts evidence‑based suicide risk assessment and intervention skills to the unique challenges of college and university environments. The course uses self-paced content, virtual sessions, and group/partner exercises with case studies specifically designed for higher‑education contexts.
