Site Examiner
Job Type: Contract
The American Association of Suicidology (AAS) is seeking a Site Examiner to conduct objective, rigorous evaluations of institutions pursuing initial or renewed accreditation. This is a project-based contract role, engaged as needed per accreditation cycle. Examiners review institutional documentation, lead virtual site examinations, interview stakeholders, and produce clear, evidence-based accreditation recommendations.

Compensation:
Site Examiners are compensated on a per-site-visit fee basis, discussed at the time of engagement.
Core Responsibilities:
Pre-Visit Evaluation
- Review Self-Study Reports: Analyze complex institutional portfolios, data registries, and historical compliance records prior to the site visit.
- Identify Gaps: Flag areas of non-compliance, missing evidence, or potential operational risks requiring deep-dive inspection.
- Coordinate Logistics: Collaborate with agency team leads to finalize site visit agendas and interview rosters.
Virtual Site Examination
- Stakeholder Interviews: Conduct targeted interviews with executives/managers, direct service staff, and community partners.
- Verify Evidence: Match operational practices against the primary and secondary proofs of compliance submitted by the organization.
Reporting & Analysis
- Draft Evaluation Reports: Synthesize dense evidentiary findings into highly structured, clear, and objective professional reports.
- Debrief Leadership: Deliver formal, neutral written site examination reports to AAS executive leadership within 14 days of site visit per standard operating procedures.
- Defend Determinations: Provide written report to AAS accreditation program personnel.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of full-time senior management or operational oversight experience in suicide prevention service delivery.
- Strong objective interviewing skills; operational expertise in crisis response; proficiency with SharePoint; strong note-taking and analytic ability.
Additional Requirements:
Subject to strict conflict-of-interest vetting before every project assignment. Must respond to emails from AAS staff within four days.
