Careers
The American Association of Suicidology is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the nation’s largest and oldest suicide prevention membership association. Founded in 1968 by clinical psychologist Edwin S. Shneidman, Ph.D., who created the psychological autopsy model used today to examine the circumstances surrounding a death by suicide, we ensure that the science and practice of suicidology (i.e., the scientific study of suicide, suicidal behavior, and suicide prevention) are grounded in evidence-based, culturally informed standards.
