Our programs are based on evidence-supported and best practices to uphold standards of care for those impacted by suicide. 2025 Suicide Prevention Summit

AAS has partnered with leading mental health organizations to bring you the online 2025 Suicide Prevention Summit, live on August 23 – 24. The 2025 Suicide Prevention Summit will be delivered via 10 live webinar sessions from Saturday, August 23 to Sunday, August 24, and will continue as an on-demand event (i.e., you can watch recordings of live webinars) until Sunday, Nov. 2.

The Suicide Death Investigation Course© is two-day immersive workshop centered on the review of Medicolegal Death Investigation procedures related to mortality assessments and inquiries with a particular focus on cases involving suicides within healthcare and behavioral healthcare systems.The course aims to provide participants with an understanding of how manners of death of classified, to acquire the skills and knowledge to conduct mortality reviews, death investigations or inquiries, to foster critical thinking abilities when completing death reviews, and enable them to comprehend the circumstances surrounding a death for drawing conclusions regarding suicide. The American Association of Suicidology (AAS) Suicide Death Investigation Course is approved by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators for 9.75 continuing education credits.

Suicide Prevention: Considerations For Special Populations© is a four (4) hour course that examines risk & protective factors & discusses prevention strategies within marginalized groups & among those from diverse cultural backgrounds. This course was designed to meet the needs of Professional Counselors, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurses, Substance Abuse Counselors, Social Workers, Crisis Specialists, Marriage & Family Therapists, Pastoral Counselors, and other roles that support marginalized communities.

Upcoming Training

This advanced 14-hour training is based on 24 core competencies derived from empirical evidence that comprehensively define the knowledge, skills and approaches required for effective clinical risk assessment and treatment of individuals at risk for suicide. This course provides ways to assimilate gained knowledge and skills using a multimodal learning plan with self-paced, online interaction, virtual instruction, and group and dyadic exercises case application exercises. Participants must attend the entire live training to receive a certificate of attendance. Continued Education credits may be earned for successful completion of the workshop component and submission of the post-evaluation. Participants can earn up to 12.5 credits.

NEW! CRISIS SUPERVISOR TRAINING SERIES

This NEW series is designed for managers and supervisors in the crisis care field who are transitioning from direct service provider to manager for the first time. The four-course series introduces concepts and skills necessary for new leaders in their supervisory roles, such as understanding leadership styles, how to provide meaningful feedback, and the processes for navigating the administrative demands of a leadership role. Participants will also have opportunities to practice new skills such as conflict resolution techniques, developing performance improvement goals, and delivering both planned and spontaneous feedback to crisis specialists.
